Summary of Sporting Achievements 2017 - 2018

Last year brought us a year of fantastic sporting events! Our children competed in a wide range of sports, both at school and in the local area.

We took part in a record number of 20 sports fixtures throughout the academic year. Including events such as: football, tennis, gymnastics, cross-country, athletics, hockey and netball to name just a few!

Our wonderful children made us proud of their efforts with places in the following events:

1st place Y3/4 Basketball 2nd place Y5/6 Basketball

3rd place Y3/4 Sports Hall Athletics 4th place Y5/6 Sports Hall Athletics

2nd place Y3/4 Drax Cricket 2nd place Kirklees Sports Hall Athletics

2nd place Y3/4 Rounders 1st place NHTS Y5/6 Quicksticks Hockey

1st place Y5/6 Quick Cricket

4th place Y5/6 South Kirklees Cricket finals

1st place Y5/6 Rounders.

In addition to these sporting events, our sports coach trained a selection of Year 5 and 6 children as Junior Sports Leaders. These children helped to lead events, such as the Year 3 transition days, Year 6 Tag-Rugby competitions in school, and refereeing inter-school events, such as the Tri-Golf competition at North Huddersfield Trust School!

We also had a number of Year 5 children chosen to attend a Gifted and Talented Academy at North Huddersfield Trust School. They, as well as a number of children from primary schools in the local area, took part in a range of different activities to challenge and develop their sporting skills. At the end of the course of 5 sessions, two lucky children were chosen to attend a special tour of the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield!

We are extremely proud of all the children who represented our school in sports events this year, and we are looking forward to another great year of sport in 2018/19!
