Head Teacher's Welcome

Welcome to our new school website. We are a large multicultural Junior School near the centre of Huddersfield.  At Birkby Junior School we work hard to provide a creative, enjoyable and rewarding learning experience for each child in an inclusive, secure and stimulating learning environment.

We are proud of our school community and celebrate the rich and diverse backgrounds of all our pupils.

The Staff and the Governing Body at Birkby Junior School are committed to working together to give children the academic and life skills they will need to be successful.

We care about our Parents and Carers, we welcome your involvement and we look for your support in ensuring good attendance, good behaviour and hard work from your children. We operate an open-door policy and welcome you into the school anytime you would like to talk.  Hopefully you can find all the information you need on our website but if you can’t please feel free to call into school. We will be happy to help you and answer any further questions you may have.

Thank you

Mrs Susan Davis
Head Teacher

    Free Maths Workbooks
Dear Parents/Carers, White Rose Maths have teamed up with Morrisons to give Primary school children free maths workbooks to use at home. These workbooks can be used for revisiting and practising work that children have covered earlier in the year, or to prepare them for the new school year ahead. The workbooks cover two vitally important topics: place value addition and subtraction. The workbooks can be collected from 26th July onwards at any Morrisons store. All you need to do is call in at the ‘Children’s Little Library’ in your local Morrisons store and collect your free copy! You are welcome to take one free copy per child from Y1 to Y6. The workbooks contain a link to the answers too. If you are unable to get to a store, the booklets will also be available to print at home from 26th July. Just click on the following link: https://whiterosemaths.com/morrisons/ Yours sincerely, Mrs F Mayet Assistant Head Teacher

    COVID-19 Survey
Dear Parents and Carers, Kirklees Council’s Public Health team is asking young people aged 9-16 to tell us about their experiences of Coronavirus and how it has affected their life and the way they feel. This will help the council and schools plan how much (and what type of) support young people may need. All questions are optional, and your child can leave out any question they don’t want to answer. The information given by your child will not allow us to identify them. Data gathered through the survey will be held as long as necessary to carry out a full analysis of the findings. The survey will run until Monday 26th July 2021, and a summary of findings will be published in August. Findings from our previous COVID-19 surveys and further details are available here. We would be grateful if you could encourage your child to complete the survey by clicking on this link https://wh.snapsurveys.com/s.asp?k=162555079916 Kind Regards, Mrs E Mills Assistant Head Teacher
